FAQ's

Q: Can you open a garage door with a cover/banner on it?

A: Absolutely. All GarageBuddy garage door covers are made specifically for residential garage doors.

Starting August 2025, all garage door covers come with pre-attached, adjustable elastic bands that flex with your garage door as it opens and closes — without getting in the way. So now, installation is even easier than before.

Q: Can I install a GarageBuddy by myself?

A: Yes. Installing your GarageBuddy cover is as easy as pie. No tools needed, and clear instructions are included in every package. Or, follow our Installation Guide for your preferred installation method.

Just clean the top of your garage door first, and iron the back of the cover on medium heat before installing.

Q: I don't know what size I should choose.

A: For the best fit, match your banner size as closely as possible to your garage door’s width and height.

👉 Check our full Size Guide here for exact measurements and tips.

Q: I'm between sizes. What size should I choose?

A: For the best fit, match your banner size as closely as possible to your garage door’s width and height.

If you’re between sizes by only a few inches, go slightly smaller for width to keep it snug without bunching, and slightly taller for height (by 2–3 inches) so you can place the velcro higher or on the top edge of the door.

👉 Check our full Size Guide here for more tips.

Q: I don’t want Velcro showing- what’s the solution?

A: Absolutely. That’s one of the questions we hear most often.

You can use our Hidden Velcro Method to do so. Instead of sticking Velcro right on the front, with the door closed, you can place the Velcro on the very top of the face of the door - the part that tucks under the rubber weather seal when the door is closed. That way, the Velcro stays invisible, protected from the elements, and your door looks clean when the cover isn’t on.

Q: How do I adjust the bungees so they’re not too tight or too loose?

A: Once you fix the top, open the garage door 1/4 so you can comfortably reach the hinges from inside the garage. Hook each elastic band to the second hinge behind the door. Check that the bungee length is neither too tight, nor too loose.

Then, slowly open the door to about halfway — this is when tension is highest. If the bungees look too tight at that point, lengthen them slightly before using. Open and close the door all the way to make sure everything stays taut without straining.

Q: What’s the difference between regular & 'Glow' covers?

A: Some designs come in two versions—regular and “(Glow)”. They look the same in daylight, but the Glow version is printed with special UV-reactive neon inks that light up under blacklight, which you can buy👉 HERE.

So if you see the same design twice—like “Boogie Bones” and “Boogie Bones (Glow)”—don’t worry, it’s on purpose. One’s a standard print, and the other brings your garage to life in the dark under black light.

Glow inks react differently depending on the color and area of the artwork so some parts may glow brighter and others softer and some may not glow at all. That’s part of how the effect works.

Q: How long will it take to ship?

A: Please note the shipping times before placing your order. The average delivery time, including printing and packing, is around  7-14 days, depending on the country and location. We’re trying our best to print, pack, and ship even quicker.

Q: Does this work on roller garage doors that coil up like a paper roll?

A: Yes, with the new lighter installation kit, the Garagebuddy covers can be installed on the roller doors as well. Just make sure you have something to hook both the bottom elastic cords to.

Q: Will The Velcro Damage My Door?

A: It won't, if done properly. Our velcro is designed to come off cleanly if you heat it up using a hair dryer to soften the adhesive and peel it off slowly. Remove any residue with Goo Gone.

However, if you want to keep Velcro hidden, try our: Hidden Velcro Method- place it on the very top front face of the door (the part that tucks under the rubber seal when closed) so it’s out of sight, protected from the elements, and ready to reuse next time.

If your door was recently painted, wait until the paint is fully cured before applying Velcro.

Q: Is the size of the banner the same as that of the door?

A: No. The mentioned sizes in the dropdown are door sizes, not those of the covers.

Please note that the covers are made slightly smaller than the doors for a better fit and look. There might be some space left on the edges. They are sized for all kinds of doors, including the ones with weather strips, so they will not fit all doors the same. The cover measurements can vary depending on whether they're taken after stretching the cover properly or not.

Note👉 Please check your door size carefully before placing your order.

Q: My garage door is bigger/smaller than your available sizes. Will it fit?

A: It depends. How big?

For the best fit, match your banner size as closely as possible to your garage door’s width and height.

If you’re between sizes, go slightly smaller for width to keep it snug without bunching, and slightly taller for height (by 2–3 inches) so you can place the velcro higher or on the top edge of the door.

👉 Check our full Size Guide here for exact measurements and tips.

Q: The Color of my banner looks slightly different from the website.

A: We make every effort to display the products and other images on our site as accurately as possible. However, actual colors may vary due to various lighting conditions (e.g., sunlight vs. fluorescent light) and individual monitor settings.

Q: Why does the design look different when I stand very close?

A: Our covers are made as large-format art prints — just like billboards. They’re designed to look crisp, bold, and eye-catching from a few steps back (like from your driveway or the street). Up close, you may notice the texture of the print or blur, but that’s completely normal - it’s the same effect that gives billboards and our covers their striking, high-impact look.

Q: What battery does the string light remote use?

A: The string light remote uses a CR2025 battery. The battery is not included and can be bought from your local hardware stores or retailers.

Q: Is it machine washable?

A: Absolutely. Our covers are made out of washable polyester fabric. But we do recommend washing them separately.

Care Instructions

  • Cold wash, gentle cycle, mild detergent
  • Air dry (preferred) or low heat tumble
  • Iron back side only, medium heat
